General Settings

The General Settings tab allows you to edit your portal name, colours, logos, privacy policy, terms and conditions, and more. To access the general settings in Citizen Portal, select the “Settings” tab from the top menu in the administrator side of Citizen Portal. Then, select the “General” tab to view the setting options.

Social media signup

You can allow users to sign up for a Citizen Portal account using their pre-existing social media accounts. From the general settings area, you need to:

  1. Scroll down to the “Social media signup” heading
  2. Select the checkbox next to the social media platforms you would like to allow users to sign up with
  3. Select “Save” at the bottom of the page

Onboarding welcome title

The onboarding welcome title appears on the onboarding screen when new users sign up.  To customize your onboarding welcome title:

  1. Scroll down to the "Onboarding welcome title" heading
  2. Enter the title you would like to display on the onboarding screen in the text field. Make sure to set the title text as a Heading2 to make it accessible
  3. Select “Save” at the bottom of the page

Onboarding text

The onboarding text will display under the onboarding welcome title on the onboarding screen when new users sign up. To customize this text:

  1. Scroll down to the "Onboarding text" heading
  2. Enter the text you’d like to display in the text field. Make sure that any additional headings are tagged as Heading3 to make them accessible
  3. Select “Save” at the bottom of the page

Footer text

The footer text appears at the bottom of Citizen Portal and typically includes an organization’s address and any other information you’d like to display at the bottom of Citizen Portal. To edit the footer text:

  1. Scroll down to the "Footer text" heading
  2. In the text field, enter the text you would like to display in the footer
  3. Select “Save” at the bottom of the page

Terms and conditions

To add or edit your terms and conditions:

  1. Scroll down to the "Terms and conditions" headings
  2. Select the “link” or “content” button. If you select “link”, you will be able to link off to a separate page with your terms and conditions. If you select “content”, you will enter the terms and conditions in the text field provided
  3. Select “Save” at the bottom of the page

Privacy policy

You can add a privacy policy which allows users to understand how you are handling their data in Citizen Portal. To add a privacy policy:

  1. Scroll down the to "Privacy policy" heading
  2. Select the “link” or “content” button. If you select “link”, you will be able to link off to a separate page with your privacy policy. If you select “content”, you can add the privacy policy to the text field provided
  3. Select “Save” at the bottom of the page

Back link text

The back link text appears in the top right corner of the public-facing side of Citizen Portal and helps users navigate back to a previous page. To edit the back link text:

  1. Scroll down to the "Back link text" headings
  2. Enter the back link text you’d like to display in the text field
  3. In the “Back link” field, enter the URL address you would like citizens to be taken to when they select the “Back link text”
  4. Select “Save” at the bottom of the page

Please note that this is an optional setting.

Social media connect link

You can add social media links to the bottom of Citizen Portal so users can easily navigate to your social media channels. To add social media links:

  1. Scroll down to the “Social media link” heading
  2. Select the checkbox next to each social media platform that would like to display at the bottom of the portal
  3. Paste the URL address of your social media account into the “URL” field next to the social media platform name
  4. Select “Save” at the bottom of the page

Help url

There is a “Help” link in Citizen Portal that users can select if they need assistance. To add a link to a help page:

  1. Scroll down to the "Help url" heading
  2. In the text field, insert the URL address you would like citizens to be taken to when they select “Help” from their profile
  3. Select “Save” at the bottom of the page

Please note that this is an optional setting.

Contact us url

There is a "Contact us" link in Citizen Portal that users can select if they want to contact you. To add a link to a contact page:

  1. Scroll down to the "Contact us url" heading
  2. In the text field, insert the URL you would like citizens to be taken to when they select “Contact us” from the header of the portal
  3. Select “Save” at the bottom of the page

Please note that this is an optional setting.
