Social Links

The Social Links sub-component allows you to insert a list of social media link icons or text links within a pod. The icons will display horizontally in a row within the sub-component.

Add a Social Links sub-component

To add a Social Links sub-component, you must:

  1. Navigate to the page you would like to add a 'Social Links' sub-component
  2. Add a 'Pod' component. This will open the 'Pods' slide-out panel
  3. Select the 'Add content' button next to the 'Pod items' field. This will open the 'Add content' slide-out panel
  4. Select the 'Social Links' component. This will open the 'Social Links' slide-out panel
  5. Enter your 'Social Links' heading (a heading is optional). Then select the size you would like your heading to be - small (S), medium (M), or large (L)
  6. If you would like a secondary heading, enter it in the 'Secondary heading' field, along with its size
  7. To insert a list of social links, select the 'Add' button beside the 'Social links' field
  8. If you would like your social link identified by an icon or an image, select the 'Add image' button. Then select an icon or image from your Govstack media folder (you can choose a previously uploaded icon or image or upload one as part of the selection process). Click 'Select' when you find the icon or image you'd like to use
  9. Add the link associated with your icon/image by selecting the 'Add Link' button beside your image. You may also add a social link without an image. The link will appear using the link title text if you don't have an image
  10. Insert the link details in the 'Select link' slide-out panel. Ensure you enter the 'Link title' for improved web accessibility
  11. Select 'Submit' when you are finished adding your link
  12. If you would like to add another social link to your list, repeat steps 7 through 10
  13. If you would like to delete a link that you have added, select the trash can icon beside the link you wish to delete, then select 'Yes, delete'
  14. Select 'Submit' when you are finished. Then select 'Submit' in your pod's slide-out panel

Social Links settings

You can adjust the look and layout of the Social Links sub-component through the 'Settings' tab, found at the top of the 'Social Links' slide-out panel.

Review each of the 'Social Links' settings to learn more.

In the 'Name' field you can give a unique name to the Social/Links component. This will make it easier to differentiate between Social/Links if you have multiple on the same page.

When working in the back office you'll see a list of all components on a page and the names will help differentiate between similar components.

You can add animation to the 'Social Links' sub-component by selecting the 'Animate' toggle. Once the 'Animate' toggle is selected, you'll have the option to customize the:

  • Animation style
  • Animation delay (seconds)
  • Animation duration (seconds)

Animation style

From the 'Animation style' dropdown menu, select the type of animation you'd like to add to 'Social Links'. There are a variety of different animation options in the following categories:

  • Attention Seekers
  • Bouncing Entrances
  • Fading Entrances
  • Flippers
  • Light Speed
  • Rotating Entrances
  • Sliding Entrances
  • Zoom Entrances
  • Specials

We recommend testing out a variety of animation styles to select the one you like the most.

Please note

Animation styles can cause accessibility issues for some users visiting your website. For example, some users may experience motion sickness when viewing animated elements on your website.

Animation delay

Using the 'Animation delay' slider, select the time in seconds that you'd like to delay the animation.

Animation duration

You can select how long you'd like the animation to last by using the 'Animation duration' slider. Select the number of seconds you'd like the animation to continue on the public website.

In the 'Custom classes' field, you can add any custom CSS classes you may have. Custom CSS classes can be found in the Design node under the 'CSS' tab in the backend of Govstack.

If you'd like to add more than one custom class, you'll need to leave a space between each class.

Please note

Depending on your Govstack plan, you may not be able to access the Design node in the backend. If you'd like to be able to add custom CSS and get access to the website design, contact your GHD Digital Account Executive.

Turn on the 'Hide from website' toggle if you'd like to hide this sub-component from the web page.

Preview and publish changes

Once you've added a 'Social Links' sub-component to your page, make sure to preview and publish the page to complete the process.
