Add Activities, Amenities and Features
Learn how to set up the activities, amenities and features within your Parks and Facilities module. Please note that features are an optional, non-searchable category in the Parks and Facilities module. They can be left blank without any negative effects.
Activates include things to do at the location such as biking, skating, swimming, walking, or skateboarding. Activities may overlap with amenities. For example the activity might be baseball, but the associated amenity would be baseball diamonds.
Amenities are the facilities available at the location, and often include the equipment or fields for activities. Examples of amenities include soccer fields, rest rooms, indoor or outdoor tennis courts, picnic shelters, and walking trails.
Features are optional and are details outside of activities and amenities that provide more information about the location. Examples of features could include mature forests, bird species, wetlands, or historical plaques.
Add activities, amenities and features
Before you begin adding locations, you should review the lists of activities, amenities, and features to make sure the options you need are available.
To add an activity, amenity, or feature to the Parks and Facilities module, you need to:
- Navigate to the Parks and Facilities back office by using the selector at the top left of the ribbon, or by selecting the tile on your dashboard
- Select the appropriate tab at the top (Activities, Amenities or Features)
- Select the 'Add' button at the upper right of the interface
- Enter a name for your activity, amenity, or feature in the field provided
- Choose if your activity, amenity, or feature will be active using the dropdown menu in the second column
- Select the save icon to complete the process
Your activity, amenity, or feature will now be available to select when adding new locations. Please note, you can't delete the system default and count columns.
Activate or deactivate activities, amenities, and features
Parks and Facilities provides an extensive list of default activities and amenities. Some of these options may not be relevant to your locations. To prevent these extra entries from cluttering your search options, you can deactivate them.
To activate or deactivate an activity, amenity, or feature, you need to:
- Navigate to the Parks and Facilities back office by using the selector at the top left of the ribbon, or by selecting the tile on your dashboard
- Select the appropriate tab at the top of the interface (Activities, Amenities or Features)
- Use the search field to find the activity, amenity or feature you want to activate or deactivate from the list
- Click the slider in the 'Active' column to set the state of the activity, amenity, or feature. They are active when the slider is blue and the indicator is on the right. They are inactive when the slider is grey and the indicator is on the left
Delete activities, amenities, or features
Activities, amenities, and features that you add to the tool can be deleted if no longer needed. However, you can't delete any activities, amenities or features that are part of the system defaults. These activities, amenities and features can be deactivated.
To delete an activity, amenity or feature, you need to:
- Navigate to the Parks and Facilities back office by using the selector at the top left of the ribbon, or by selecting the tile on your dashboard
- Select the appropriate tab at the top of the interface (Activities, Amenities or Features)
- Use the search field to find the activity, amenity or feature you want to delete from the list
- Verify that no locations are currently assigned to the activity, amenity or feature you'd like to delete. The count column will show how many locations are assigned to these activities, amenities and feature. Deleting your activity, amenity or feature is an option only if the count is 0.
- Once the location type is no longer associated with any locations (count equals 0), a delete button will appear to the right of the row. Select the delete icon to proceed
- A confirmation pop-up box will open. Click 'OK' to confirm and complete the process
