Add and Edit a Page

The Govstack content management system (CMS) allows you to easily add and edit pages for your website. Explore the different content components you can use to build dynamic content for your pages.

Add a new page

To add a new page in your Govstack CMS:

  1. Navigate to your left-hand 'Content' tree menu in the Govstack back office and hover over the page that you would like your new page to "live" under
  2. Select the ellipsis that appears when you hover your mouse and a new 'Create' slide-out panel will appear
  3. Select 'Page' under 'Create an item under [name of your parent page]'.
  4. This will take you to the new page and you can begin editing

Edit your new page

Explore each of the options available to edit and customize the content pages on your website.

At the top of the new page, in the 'Enter a name' field, add the name of the page. This will be the name used in your website side menu.

In the 'Heading' field, add the title of the page that you'd like to appear at the top of your page on the live website. This will be your Heading 1 (H1) for the page. As a best practice, the Heading 1 for a page should match the page name.

Now that you've added a page, you're ready to insert the content. Select the 'Content' tab at the top of the page and then you can:

Under the 'Extra Content' tab located at the top of the screen, you can insert any content you'd like to add to your page that surrounds the main content.

For example, you can add extra content above or below your main content and you can choose to hide any global top components, bottom components or pods that you have set up through the Global Node. You can also insert pods below your content in the 'Pods' field.

Under the 'Summary' tab, insert your page name, a secondary heading (if applicable) and the summary text for the page. The summary will appear when the page is linked as a tile within a content component that generates a page's Summary.

Under the 'Navigation' tab, choose if you would like to hide any aspects of your new page from your website, including from all auto generated navigation, the internal search function and breadcrumb navigation. Breadcrumb navigation is the hierarchical navigation showing a user's location - i.e., Living Here>Parks and Facilities>Spencer Park.

You can also choose to hide the sub navigation menu from the page and modify the page's link text presented in the sub navigation menu, the HTML sitemap and the breadcrumb link.

Under the 'SEO and Share' tab, you can add a page title and description that will appear in search engine results for your page. This is known as page metadata and helps search engines, like Google, rank your page on the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). You can also insert an image that will appear when a user shares your page over social media.

The 'SEO and Share' tab allows you to choose to hide the page from external search engines, set the Sitemap XML priority level for internal search importance, set the Sitemap XML change frequency (how often you expect content on that page to change), provide an alternative URL, and an alternative name for the page in your left-hand tree menu.

Under the 'Scripts' tab, you can choose to add custom scripts to the page.

Under the 'Advanced' tab, you can choose to override the Global Node (such as when using a new page configuration that does not follow the rest of the website), hide the website's header or footer, choose to override the 'Design Style' for the page, including its logo and content direction, and more.
