Related Content

The Related Content component can be added to a Pods component and allows you to insert call-to-action links that direct users to pages that are related to the page you are currently building.

The calls-to-action (CTA) display horizontally within your pod and each page you insert must have a 'Summary' defined for it, because the Related Content component pulls this information in as part of the link.

Add a Related Content component

To add a Related Content component to your page in Govstack, you must:

  1. Navigate to the page you'd like to add Related Content to
  2. Add a Pod component
  3. In the Pod's slide-out panel, select the 'Add content' button alongside the 'Pod items' field
  4. In the new slide-out panel, select the 'Related Content' component
  5. Select 'Add' alongside the 'Related Content' field to select the pages you would like to be included
  6. Navigate your sitemap to find a page or use the search bar and select the pages you would like to include, then select 'Submit'. The pages you include will be marked by a checkmark
  7. Select 'Create' to add the related content to your pod

If you would like to edit your selected pages, select 'Open' to open the page, or 'Remove' to remove the page from your related content.

Please note

When using the Related Content component, you can only insert links to other publicly viewable pages within your website, and not to any hidden pages or external links.

You can continue to add other components to the pod and configure the Pod settings until you are happy with the look and layout of the content.

Related Content settings

You can adjust the look and layout of the related content through the 'Settings' tab, located at the top of the 'Related Content' slide-out panel. You can also edit the Pod component settings

Review each of the related content settings to learn more.

When you are finished, select 'Submit' in the 'Related Content' Settings slide-out panel, then select 'Submit' in the 'Pods' slide-out panel.

Design and layout

You can select the heading size for the related content item. Choose one of the following options:

  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large

The heading size you choose will apply to all page links that you have inserted in the related content.

If you have added secondary headings to the pages that you have chosen to insert in their 'Summary' tabs, select which size you would like to display them. You can choose between 'Small', 'Medium' or 'Large' options.

The secondary heading size will apply to all page links that you have inserted in your related content.

With 'Text position', select where you would like the page summaries and their headings to appear with your related content page links. This positioning will only work if you have added an image to the 'Summary' tab of the page(s) you are linking to.

You can choose between having the page heading(s) and summary:

  • Appear below the image
  • Appear above the image
  • Overlaid on top of the image
  • Appear to the left of the image
  • Appear to the right of the image

You can choose to add a background colour to the Related Content component. Select the toggle to 'Yes' if you would like this enabled.

Select the background colour you would like for the Related Content component from the preview of colour options presented. Your colour options and availability will be determined by your organization's brand settings.

Please note

You may be able to change the design colours depending on your Govstack plan. To get access to the website design features, speak with your GHD Digital Account Executive.

You can choose if you would like your text left-aligned, centred or right-aligned for your related content. All page links you have inserted in your Related Content component will follow this formatting.

This option lets you choose if you would like to display the image from the page summary.

You can determine how you would like your page links' image(s) to appear in your related content. You must have added an image to the 'Summary' tab of the page(s) you are linking to for this positioning to take effect. The option you select here will apply to all page links you have inserted into the Related Content component.

You can choose between the original image size (Original), a square image (1:1 Square) or a circle image (1:1 circle). You may also choose from the following image aspect ratios:

  • 2:1
  • 1:2
  • 3:1
  • 1:3
  • 3:2
  • 2:3
  • 4:1
  • 1:4
  • 4:3
  • 3:4
  • 16:9
  • 9:16
  • 16:10
  • 10:16

Select the option to enable it for your related content and select the option again if you would like to deselect it.

After you select an image style in the 'Image style' settings, your images will automatically be cropped to match your selection. However, you may prefer to have your images retain their original ratios while still having a consistent ratio display. To do this, turn on the 'Box pad' toggle to add padding around images to match the image style you have selected.

Animation

You can add animation to the component by selecting the 'Animate' toggle. Once the 'Animate' toggle is selected, you'll have the option to customize the:

  • Animation style
  • Animation delay (seconds)
  • Animation duration (seconds)

From the 'Animation style' dropdown menu, select the type of animation you'd like to add to the accordion. There are a variety of different animation options in the following categories:

  • Attention Seekers
  • Bouncing Entrances
  • Fading Entrances
  • Flippers
  • Light Speed
  • Rotating Entrances
  • Sliding Entrances
  • Zoom Entrances
  • Specials

We recommend testing out a variety of animation styles to select the one you like the most.

Please note

Animation styles can cause accessibility issues for some users visiting your website. For example, some users may experience motion sickness when viewing animated elements on your website.

Using the 'Animation delay' slider select the time in seconds that you'd like to delay the animation.

Please note

Animation delay can cause accessibility issues for some users visiting your website. Certain animation styles and delays can combine to make your animated component invisible to screen readers. Please test your animations to make sure they are accessible.

You can select how long you'd like the animation to last on the component by using the 'Animation duration' slider. Select the number of seconds you'd like the animation to continue on the public website.

Advanced

In the 'Name' field you can give a the component a unique name. This will make it easier to differentiate between components, both on your page as well as in your clipboard.

In the 'Custom classes' field, you can add any custom CSS classes you may have. Custom CSS classes can be found in the Design node under the 'CSS' tab in the backend of Govstack.

If you'd like to add more than one custom class, you'll need to leave a space between each class.

Please note

Depending on your Govstack plan, you may not be able to access the Design node in the backend. If you'd like to be able to add custom CSS and get access to the website design, contact your GHD Digital Account Executive.

We cannot guarantee that future updates to Govstack will not break or negatively impact custom CSS.

Turn on the 'Hide from website' toggle if you'd like to hide this component from the web page.

Preview and publish changes

Once you've added a 'Related Content' component to your pod, make sure to preview and publish the page to complete the process.
