Create a Page Specific Contact

Most site themes come with a contact information pod that appears on all the web pages in the website. However, there are many situations where you may want to include a custom contact on one or more of the pages in your site, either to add to this default contact information or replace it.

Creating the reusable pod

To build a contact that can be used on one or more pages you will first want to build the contact componenet using Reusable Pods. This component will contain the contact information you want to display.

To create this reusable pod you will need access to the Global node and the Reusable Pods section inside it. If you don't have this access contact your website administrators.

To build a reusable pod containing your contact information follow these steps:

  1. Login to the Gocstack CMS and open the Global node found in the content tree under the Content section
  2. Open the Reusable Pods node
  3. Select 'Create Pod Group' at the top of the list of reusable pods. This will open a new, blank, reusable pod
  4. In the 'Enter a name...' field enter a name for your contact. This should specify the person, department, or other entity that relates to the contact information in this pod
  5. Select 'Save' at the bottom right of the screen to create your reusable pod
  6. Select 'Add content' in the Pods section of the interface. A list of components will open
  7. Select the Text/Image option and the Content section of the new component will open
  8. Complete the content and settings for your contact. Refer to the Text/Image Componenet article for detailed information on the options available. For the simplest option enter your contact information in the Text area of the componenet. Note that you do not want to add a button link to the Text/Image componenet if you have links (like email or phone numbers) in the text area, as they will conflict
  9. Select 'Create' at the bottom right of the component
  10. Select 'Save and publish' to complete the process

Once you have created your reusable pod you can add it to individual pages across your site to include your new contact information on those pages. If you update the content of the reusable pod at a later date it will update on all pages where you have added it.

Note that when you add the reusable pod to your first page you may need to revise its content and settings. The Reusable Pods section does not offer a save and preview option so errors may not be apparent until you apply the pod to a page.

Adding the contact to a webpage

Once the reusable pod for the contact has been created it will need to be added to the target webpages.

To add your contact to a webpage follow these steps:

  1. Login to the Gocstack CMS and open the target webpage node in the content tree under the Content section
  2. Select the 'Extra Content' tab at the top of the Govstack interface
  3. If you want to hide the default contact information toggle the 'Hide global pods' slider to 'Yes'. If you want to keep the original contact information as well as add your own leave this set to 'No'
  4. Select 'Add content' in the Pods section. This will open a componenet selection dialogue
  5. Select the 'Reusable Pods' component. This will open the Reusable Pods content window
  6. In the 'Reusable pods group' area select the 'Add' button
  7. Select you contact from the list of available reusable pods. If your contact doesn't appear as an option confirm that it has been published
  8. Select 'Create' then save and publish your page to complete the process

 You can repeat this process to add your contact to as many pages as needed, and you can also add multiple contacts per page. Updating your contacts in the Reusable Pods section of the Global node will update all pages where that information appears.
