In the Govstack Content Management System, you can control how search engines scan and find your content in order to provide users with relevant search results. You can also block search engines from crawling specific content on your site.

Sitemap XML settings

You can adjust the sitemap XML settings for pages on your website, including ranking page priorities and setting expected page change frequencies.

Hide a page from search engines

If you want to hide a page on your website from being indexed by search engines, you need to:

  1. Select the 'Content' tab from the Govstack main menu
  2. In the left navigation tree, find the page you want to hide from search engines
  3. Select the 'SEO & Share' tab, and scroll down to 'Hide from search engines'
  4. Turn on the toggle button to say 'Yes'
  5. Select 'Save and publish'

Stop internal links from being followed on a page

If you want to block search engines from being able to follow internal links on a page on your website, you need to:

  1. Select the 'Content' tab from the Govstack main menu
  2. In the left navigation tree, find the page you want to stop search engines from following internal links on
  3. Select the 'SEO & Share' tab, and scroll down to 'Stop internal links being followed'
  4. Turn on the toggle button to say 'Yes'
  5. Select 'Save and publish'

Override a canonical URL

To override the default canonical URL that's added to a page, you need to:

  1. Select the 'Content' tab from the Govstack main menu
  2. In the left navigation tree, find the page you want to override the canonical URL on
  3. Select the 'SEO & Share' tab, and scroll down to 'Override Canonical URL'
  4. Enter the full URL that you would like to override the canonical URL. Include the full URL scheme in your URL
  5. Select 'Save and publish'
