Error Message Page

If a logged-in member tries to view a password-protected page in your Govstack CMS which they have not been given member access to, they will encounter an error message page. In order for this to happen, you need to create an error message page and link it to your password-protected content.

Create an error message page

To create an error message page that users will arrive on if they try to view password-protected content that they don't have access to, you need to:

1. Navigate to your Govstack CMS from the Govstack dashboard
2. Under the 'Content' tab in the Govstack main menu, add a new page
3. Enter a name for the error message page
4. Add a text component that communicates to the user that they cannot view the page content
5. Click 'Submit' when you are finished
6. Select 'Save and Publish'
7. Ensure you are linking to the error message page from your password-protected content

What to put in an error message

Your error message page should tell users that they are trying to view content that they don't have access to. The page name and text component should reflect this message.

For example, the page name could be "Access Denied" and the text component could read "you don't have permission to view this page". If you want users to be able to request access to the content, you could also communicate this in the message and provide contact information.
